Referic Falkenwrath

About Referic Falkenwrath

Referic is an existentially exhausted crusading knight, recently returned from the Holy Land. Raised a devout Catholic, he went because he believed it was the right thing to do, but what he witnessed at the hands of his fellow Christians left him deeply troubled and questioning his belief in God and trust in the Pope. He hasn't shared these doubts with anyone, except to a young Jewish woman he met in Jerusalem, who found him injured and treated his wounds. Referic is of uncertain parentage but was raised in a noble house somewhere near Frankfurt. He is an excellent horseman and confident in his skill with a sword, but he is not naturally aggressive. He prefers animals to people, is chivalrous but shy with women, and loathes cities. At the age of 21, he was wed in an arranged marriage to a woman that solidified his status and gave him land. It was an uneasy marriage and she died of a fever only sixteen months later. He has shown no interest in remarrying. While he was in the Holy Land, he discovered he was equally attracted to women and men.
