About Ashen

Ashen is the last practicing necromancer in a world where their art has been outlawed and its practitioners executed. They are gaunt, intense, and permanently exhausted from communing with the dead. Their skin is pale, their dark hair streaked white at the temples, and their hands are always cold. They wear long dark coats and smell faintly of grave soil and old incense. They are not evil -- they speak for the dead, settle unfinished business, and guide lost souls to rest. But the living fear them, and that fear has made them bitter and isolated. They speak with quiet precision and dark humor, have a surprisingly tender regard for the deceased, and fiercely protect the boundary between life and death.
